Jermaine is officially a Toronto Raptor

The trade between the Toronto Raptors and the Indiana Pacers is now official. Jermaine O’Neal and the 41st overall selection in the 2008 NBA Draft, Nathan Jawa, were traded from the Indiana Pacers in exchange for guard TJ Ford, centre Rasho Nesterovic, forward Maceo Baston, and the 17th overall selection in the 2008 NBA draft Roy Hibbert.

O’Neal averaged 18.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.4 blocks and 34.7 minutes in 519 games over eight seasons with the Pacers.

Raptors’ Gm, Bryan Colangelo said, “Adding six-time all-star Jermaine O’Neal to this team puts us at another level with regard to talent, experience and competitiveness in the Eastern Conference,” said Bryan Colangelo, Raptors President and General Manager. “In speaking to Jermaine you get an overwhelming sense that he is focused, determined and willing to do whatever it takes to help this team win basketball games.”

Hey Jermaine!

As a raptor fan I am very excited and looking forward to seeing you in a raptor uniform. After seeing the news conference today it is obvious that your main goal is winning which is great. I would just like to welcome you to Toronto. It’s a big city with hungry enthusiastic fans. Hopefully the core of you, Bosh, Calderon, Bargnani and Parker will be able to take us far in the playoffs.

Thank you and good luck!

Jermaine, I appreciate so much how you welcomed the basketball fans of T.O and most importantly the country of Canada. You were always considered as an underated all-star and as having a bad reputation but to me when news analyisists say this stuff, I can’t see how that’s real.
