If there was any speculation that Jermaine would opt out of his contract to become and unrestricted free agent this off season, that talk has been put to rest. Jermaine had until June 30th to opt out of his contract, but his representatives have informed the Pacers that he will remain in his contract with the team. The Pacers now must decide if they will trade him and go into a rebuilding mode, or keep him and try to win now. Jermaine spoke on the issue a few days ago on Sporting News Radio. The following clips are from his interview:
JO thinks Pacers will trade him if they rebuild team
JO prefers not to go through rebuild
JO not forcing his way out of Indiana
JO has loyalty for Pacers and Indy

Jermaine… you have always been one of my favorite players in the league…. from your time in Portland until now… I would say you are one of the top 10 big men in the league today. My question for you is….. with all the current rumors swirling around the web, the one that has been most intriguing for me is the trade to Toronto. How do you feel about playing along side Bosh… potentially being the Eastern conference’s version of the twin towers? Are you intrigued in anyway to be playing under the management of Colangelo? And also… I can assure you that the Toronto fans are very excited at the possibility of you wearing Raptor red, are you just as excited as the fans in the possibility of bringing an NBA title to Toronto?
Well I hope you get back to me. And I really hope you end up in Toronto. I firmly believe if you where brought in, and Colangelo brings in a free agent or two to fill as role players, Toronto will have a legitimate chance of taking home the title.
I’m really looking forward to seeing how this all plays out! J dot in the T dot!!!!!!! hehe
