More heros are bringing the joy of this season to a Columbia family. It’s a family we’ve been following that’s overcome one tragedy after another.
Pat Brown is encouraged. “This is like a dream come true and in life you never know where the road is going to lead,“says Brown.
On Sunday that road led Brown and her grandchildren to Walmart where the kids got to shop for free.
“For people to just reach out and to help us in this situation, it’s just phenomenal,“says Brown.
Thanks to NBA star Jermaine O’Neal’s annual Christmas program which helps kids in the Midlands each year.
“One of his representatives heard about the Lemons family from WLTX and gave us a call and asked if we would come out here today,“says Brown.
Her daughter, Myrtese, lost her courageous battle to cancer this year, leaving behind six children. Their father died of a heart attack in 2008.
“We are going to be together, divided we fall but together, we are going to be together,“says Brown.
She says through family, friends, her faith in God and the overwhelming generosity of strangers, they will get through.
“All of the outpouring of love that has been given to our family during our ups and downs. I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart,“says Brown.
The Jermaine O’Neal Foundation Christmas Program gave each child $300 gift cards to shop at Walmart and Foot Action.
