Jermaine sat out his third straight game yesterday as the Raptors fell 112-99 to the Lakers at the Staples Center. Jermaine’s sore left ankle has kept him out of the lineup, as the team wants to make sure he is 100% healthy before they send him back on the floor and risk further injury. O’Neal, who participated in the Raptors’ shootaround yesterday morning, had a precautionary x-ray taken before the game. While nothing serious was found, he’s still being listed as day to day.
Anxious to get back on the court, Jermaine was quick to point out that it it is his ankle, not his knee that is forcing him out of action.
“It looks really good – no swelling,” Jermaine said. “The swelling’s gone. For everybody out there who’s wondering about the knee, the knee is great. But the ankle’s a little, you know, the ankle’s a little fat right now, a little baby fat on it right now.”
In the one game Jermaine did attempt to play in after the injury, he was pulled in the first half after it was clear he was at risk of injuring himself further.
“I was a little upset with myself by playing last Sunday,” O’Neal said. “Obviously you want to do what you can do to help the team, to be out there, just emotion for the team, especially against such a great team like Boston. But I just wasn’t quite ready.”

i agree with taking as much time as possible to get to 100% its still very early in the season and its better to hold off for the long run.
