Raptors' O'Neal hoping to impress

There will undoubtedly be a sense of anticipation and excitement in the Air Canada Centre tonight – new black uniforms on the home team, a new lineup for fans to check out, the potential of a new home season still to be tapped.

Grizzled old veteran that he is, a time-hardened veteran of all of five home openers in his career, Chris Bosh is not all that enthralled with the pomp and circumstance that accompany such events.

“Well,” Bosh said after a lengthy pause when asked about the hype of the season’s first home game, “I’m to the point now where it’s business as usual.”

Of course, it’s anything but, and in his next breath, the wily 24-year-old admitted as much.

“But I know it’s very exciting for the fans, so I feed off that energy, really.”

While Bosh maintains he’s underwhelmed by parts of the whole thing, his new frontcourt mate sees tonight’s game against the Golden State Warriors as a chance to show the new home folks what he’s all about when games really matter.

Jermaine O’Neal hardly played in any of the three pre-season games at the Air Canada Centre – and he looked distinctly in pre-season form when he was on the court – so tonight is a coming-out party of sorts.
